Civil Society in Disasters

The analysis of the relations between civil society actors and organisations, disasters and emergencies, and digital technologies was carried out by Work Package 4. This Work Package examined how civil society organizations and social collectives used digital and smart urban technologies in the context of disasters. It discussed with stakeholders how smart urban and digital technologies might support their work in the future. It also engaged with the history and conceptualisation of civil society’s role in disaster and emergency in Mexico, particularly through a focus on the experiences and possibilities of digital and smart urban technologies.
