Simin Davoudi is a Co-Investigator in the Smart Urban Resilience project, where she co-leads Work Package 4. She is Professor of Environment and Planning and Director of the Global Urban Research Unit (GURU) at Newcastle University, UK. She is past President of AESOP (the Association of the European Schools of Planning) and Fellow of the: Royal Town Planning Institute, Academy of Social Sciences, and Royal Society of Arts. Simin has served as expert advisor for the UK government, European Commission and research councils, and held visiting professorships in universities of: Amsterdam, Nijmegen (the Netherlands), BTH (Sweden), Virginia Tech (USA), RMIT (Australia) and Tampere (Finland). Her research and publications covers the socio-spatial and political aspects of urban planning, environmental governance, climate change and resilience. Her latest books are: The Routledge Companion to Environmental Planning (2019), The Resilience Machine (2018 Routledge), Justice and Fairness in the City (2016, Policy Press), and Reconsidering Localism (2015, Routledge). Simin is co-editor of the Journal of Environmental Planning and Management, and is editorial board member of nine other international journals.
