Dr Abigail Schoneboom

Abby is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University. Within the project, she collaborates in Work Package 4 and co-leads Work Package 5. She is an ethnographer whose research focuses on work, with a particular emphasis on cities, technology, sustainability and work-life boundaries. She is particularly interested in the relationship between urban space, wage labour and critical consciousness, with a growing focus on the connection between humans and nature.

Besides her work in the Smart Urban Resilience project, she is also a Research Associate on the ESRC-funded project, Working in the Public Interest, the first major investigation in the UK into the increasing involvement of private companies in carrying out professional spatial planning work for local government. Abby works currently at the School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape at Newcastle University.
